Kristel Van Calsteren is a feto-maternal medicine specialist and associate professor in the department of obstetrics and gynaecology at the University of Leuven, Belgium. In 2009 she defended her PhD thesis which handled different aspects of cancer and cancer treatment during pregnancy, and continued research on this topic over the last 15 year. She is a founding member of INCIP (International Network on Cancer, Infertility and Pregnancy) and ABCIP (Advisory Board on Cancer, Infertility and Pregnancy). Other research topics include the application of cfDNA analysis in pregnancy beyond screening for common fetal trisomies, and pharmacokinetics and safety of medicine use in pregnancy.
